Code of Conduct

Alfeen Public School promotes an environment that provides safety, comfort and security to every member so as to help him/her utilise the available resources efficiently and effectively. If and when there are incidents that undermine the above mentioned basic norms of existence, the school takes appropriate corrective measures that could well be punitive in nature.

1. The students of Alfeen Public School are always motivated and driven by a very strong sense of honour and respect. APS students find it beneath their dignity to indulge in any activity that could bring dishonour to their self, their families or their school. If and when there are incidents that undermine the basic norm of the existence of the Alfeen Public School community, the school takes appropriate corrective measures that could well be punitive in nature.

2. (i) Cheating of any kind – whether in course of regular classes or during examinations- is considered to originate from highly dishonourable attitudes and therefore is a punishable offence.
(ii) Forging of any documents or signatures is considered to originate from highly dishonourable attitudes and therefore a punishable offence.
(iii)Teasing- that in any way hurts, demeans and /or threatens others, bullying – is considered to originate from highly dishonourable attitudes and therefore is a punishable offence.
(iv)Theft and intentional damage of others’ property is considered to originate from highly dishonourable attitudes and could well be regarded as a non-negotiable offence that calls for expulsion.
(v)Disputes in Alfeen Public School- whether amongst groups or individuals are never settled through physical violence. In circumstances where students are unable to solve problems amongst them amicably, help is sought from the staff and other adults. Physical violence or any kind of provocation is never tolerated at Alfeen Public School and is regarded as a non-negotiable offence that calls for expulsion.

3. Refined and sophisticated code of conduct is reflected in the school’s motto- “GROW UP GOOD”. Where ever norms of refined conduct are not adhered to, the School takes appropriate corrective measures, that if required could well be punitive in nature.
(I) It is beneath the dignity of Alfeen Public School students to use foul language or vulgar gestures in any situation. The vulgarity of any kind, whether verbal or gestural or otherwise, is considered to originate from a lack of one’s senses of dignity, honour and respect and therefore is a punishable offence. Students should not use profane, obscene, abusive or inappropriate language.
(ii) In keeping with the requirements of a good English medium institution – all the students make it a point to converse amongst themselves in English at all times. Speaking amongst each other in the vernacular tongue is not just strongly discouraged by one and all but – beyond a certain point regarded as a censurable offence
(iii) Inattentiveness or Indifference towards any of the subjects tardiness, misbehaviour towards any member of the staff or any other misconduct which affect the discipline of the school will be viewed seriously.
(iv) The students of Alfeen Public School display the best of table manners and etiquettes and also decorum during all meals in the school. They also ensure that they keep the surroundings absolutely clean and tidy. Parents ensure that food for their wards is sent in neat and handy tiffin boxes along with napkin and spoon. They are also aware that Tuesday is Vegetable Day and Thursday is Fruit Day.
(v) Alfeen Public School students, without fail accord and greet appropriately – all members of the staff, guests and visitors and also fellow students.
(vi) At the time of boarding the bus, every student waits patiently and boards their buses in an orderly manner. Indisciplined behaviour on the bus will make pupil ineligible to use School Transport.
(vii) Students using School transport should bring a diary note and get permission from the Section Head, in case of any deviation in the routine.
(viii) Students are not permitted to bring any CD’s, pen drives, magazines or any other literature not related to study at school.

4. Since Alfeen Public School is a co-educational institution, where boys and girls are considered equals in every way, in case any incident occurs that exhibits gender bias or the lack of appropriate decency in terms of gender relations within the school community, the School Management takes appropriate corrective measures that if required could well be punitive in nature.
(I) Boys and girls have equal rights and opportunities for growth in terms of activities at Alfeen Public School and so they develop a very decent, healthy and cultured relationship amongst them. The school expects the students to relate amongst themselves in the decent way that brothers, sisters and friends do in any cultured and egalitarian family.

5. Every student at Alfeen Public School ensures that he/she behaves in a manner that would not disturb or harm any way the work or progress of others. In case any incidents occur that transgress this basic norm, the school management takes appropriate corrective measures that if required could well be punitive in nature
(i) Students value that attendance in all classes is compulsory for all students and they never leave their classroom or the specific area where they are designated to be without permission from the teacher under whose charge they are supposed to be at any given time.
(ii) Students do not loiter around in the corridor or other common spaces during class hours.
(iii) Students always line up and move silently whenever they need to go from one place to another
(iv) As school is not the place for socialising, students are not permitted to receive guests in school. Parents/Guardians/ friends and/ or any other relatives are not allowed to visit their wards in the classrooms without written permission from the Principal.

6. The methodology adapted by APS and also the CBSE curriculum is based on enquiry, research, discussion and continuous evaluation. Hence 100% attendance is compulsory for all the students of Alfeen Public School. So Alfeen Public School discourages absenteeism of any kind and considers absence from school to be a punishable offence.
(i) All the students attend school on 85% of the stipulated working days. Failure to comply with this attracts the highest level of punitive action.
(ii)The students of APS always consider themselves accountable for any kind of absence. Absence without information or unexplained absence for more than 14 consecutive days renders the student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls. Re-admission will have to be sought thereafter by following school procedures for admission.
(iii)If a student remains absent for a long time from the school without prior sanction of leave, then the student should be accompanied by his/her parents on the day of reporting to meet the Principal or else students will not be allowed to enter the class.

7. Punctuality is essential in all the activities and failure to be punctual is considered a punishable offence
(i) All students arrive at school at the time specified and follow the timings as given in the daily schedule of the school, without fail. Habitual late comers will be reprimanded.
(ii) Every student is punctual to all the classes and activities at school.

8. The students’ diary is the instrument of communication between the students’ parents/guardians and the school. Therefore the students of Alfeen Public School make sure that they do all that is needed to constantly uphold this regular exchange of information and essential bond of accountability. Whenever these norms are undermined, the school takes corrective measures that could well be punitive in nature.
(i) Students bring their diary to school and take it back home every day. It should not be used as a Rough book. Pages therein should not be torn.
(ii) Important notes from school, homework assignments, personal complaints, messages and so on are regularly communicated through the Student’s Diary and parents/ guardians make it a point to check and sign their children’s Diaries daily.
(iii)Similarly, parents/guardians use their children’s Diaries whenever they have any queries or need to send any messages or leave notes to school and it is the responsibility of every student that his/her Diary is shown to his/her class teacher daily.

9. Alfeen Public School students approve that school is not a place to make fashion statements and abide strictly by the school’s Dress Code. The school has a zero-tolerance policy towards students who are shabbily dressed or not in proper uniform as per school Dress Code and errant students are punished.
(i) Boys and girls of Alfeen Public school always turn out in a clean, neat and smart uniform.
(ii) Students of classes (Play Class to V) do wear casual non-uniform clothes on their birthdays but always ensure that whatever they wear to school is decent and cultured.

10. The students understand that school is not a place to make a fashion statement concerning hairstyles and that failure to style their hair as per accepted norms could call for the punitive measure.
(i) Neither boys nor girls colour, spike or gel their hair.
(ii) Neither boys nor girls come to school sporting any fancy hairstyles.
(iii) All boys in grade IX and above are neatly shaved or trimmed. Boys should maintain their hair trimmed at all times.
(iv) Girls with hair of more than shoulder length should plait the hair neatly. For holding the hair of girls together, only black hair clips, hair bands or rubber bands are used. Flicks of hair should not fall on the forehead.
(v) Girls with shoulder-length hair should tie the hair in a
ponytail.
(vi) No student in school wears nail polish, eye shadow, eyeliner, lipstick or other similar cosmetics to school.
(vii) Girls wear small earrings and no other jewellery to school. Boys do not wear any kind of jewellery unless with specific written permission from the Principal.

11. Students of Alfeen Public School appreciate that school is not a place to show off personal possessions and so refrain from bringing any expensive/ valuable article to school.
(i) No student brings mobile phones, i-pods, pen drives, electronic toys and the like to school. Any student found using or in possession of such gadgets might well be expelled.
(ii) If any valuable items are brought to school with due permission in writing from the Principal, the entire responsibility of ensuring the safety of such items lies with the concerned students.
(iii) Students have the option of wearing wristwatches but it is ensured that they are worn for their utility and not as any kind of fashion statement.

12. Students consider it as their responsibility to keep the classroom and the other areas of the school neat, clean, attractive and homely. So they make sure that the classroom is maintained properly and never littered or vandalised.
Any damage caused to school property or that of other pupils will have to be made good by the pupil who carved the damage. If deliberate, fine will be twice the values of the damaged item.

13. All the students of Alfeen Public School regard it beneath their dignity and sense of honour to indulge in any act of vandalism or destruction of property. Defacing, vandalising or destroying of school property in any way is considered to be one of the most serious offences that could attract the severest of punishments.

14. The students are habitually extra cautious about any kind of accident. Any such incident should immediately be reported to the class teacher or other appropriate authorities at the earliest.

15. Alfeen Public School students respect the School’s decision to disallow its students from using motorized vehicles as they are aware that first, young people of school-going age are generally not authorised to possess a proper licence for driving motor vehicles; and second, permitting students to drive their own motor cars and motorized two-wheelers to school is likely to start off a total disgraceful and unwanted culture of one-upmanship, show off and wrong values. Hence, Alfeen Public School students never drive any motor vehicle to and from school and if found doing so, especially in their school uniform, he/she is taken to task for such an offence.

16. Students never use any of the telephones in school to either make or receive calls without permission from the Principal or any of the Section Heads, on the Principal’s behalf.

17. In normal conditions, once a student comes to school, he/she leaves only when the school gets over. In extraordinary circumstances, the Principal allows a student to leave the school premises during school hours provided that the parent/ guardian of the concerned student approaches the Principal in person and obtains written permission.

18. If a student suffers from any contagious disease he/she should abstain from coming to school during the period when the disease might be contracted. Ex. Chickenpox, Measles, mumps etc. When a student, who had suffered from any of the above-mentioned diseases, re-joins school, he/she must get a certificate of fitness from the doctor. A medical certificate is required for long leave, absence due to illness for more than 3 days.

19. In normal circumstances students of Alfeen Public School never bring any pets to school.

20. Alfeen Public School students never bring crackers or fireworks to school.

21. The school reserves the right to dismiss students whose diligence or progress in studies is steadily unsatisfactory or whose conduct is harmful to other students.

22. The following things are forbidden: Tobacco, Alcohol, intoxicating drugs or any other intoxicants, dangerous weapons and firearms. It would be a non-negotiable criminal offence for any student to be found in any way involved with any of the above and would be punishable with expulsion and even intervention by the police.

23. Fine will be levied as a corrective measure for the following instances by the C.T with a diary note:
1. Vandalism or destruction of school property
2. Late arrival to school
3. Theft or intentional damage of others, property
